FAQ & Rules

ContactContact.html

Safety is paramount at every Northeast Track Day event. There are many things to consider while at an event to ensure your safety and that of other drivers. The following rules specify what to consider while at an event and expected driving etiquette while on track. Anyone (driver or guest of a driver) at an event that is deemed to be driving in an unsafe manner on track, in the paddock, or not behaving appropriately will be asked to leave immediately without a refund.

Passing

Passing is allowed in designated areas only. These designated areas will vary depending upon the track and your particular run group. The passing zones will be communicated at the driver’s meeting and in your event packet. A point-by signal must be given by the car being passed regardless of run group. There must be one point-by signal given for each car you let pass (If you see 3 cars behind you that you would like to let pass, then you must give 3 individual point-by signals).

Hand Signals

These are the only form of communication a driver has while on track. It’s important to know the proper hand signals and when to use them.

Passing:

Passing is always initiated by the car being passed with a point-by signal. If you would like the car behind you to pass on your left side, then you must extend your left arm straight out the driver side window and point left. If you would them to pass on your right side, then you must extend your left arm up and over your roofline clearly pointing to the right side of your vehicle.

Pit Lane:

When coming to pit lane during or at the end of a session you must signal accordingly. Extend your left arm out of the driver side window with a closed fist held vertically.

Be aware of your surroundings

Being aware of your surroundings involves knowing where the corner stations are, looking for stationary/waving flags, looking down the track for an incident, etc. Watch your mirrors for cars that might be a little quicker around the track. In this scenario there are two options.

Option 1:

Give the following car the appropriate point-by signal and let them pass. Remember, this is not a competition.

Option 2:

You can pull into pit lane and wait for open track.

The last thing anyone wants is a train of cars on track. Please check your mirrors!

Weather

Events run rain or shine, so weather itself is not a big concern. However, what you do on track during the inevitable rainy session(s) is a big concern. Use good judgment, slow down if needed, leave more space for braking, and use this time to really learn the proper line.

Self Tech

Self Tech is recommended before every event. Even if you do not bring your car to an official inspection shop it is important that you know the condition of your car. Print out our Tech Form and review each item. We rather you find the issue and fix it before the event instead of us finding it and not allowing the car to participate.

Track Flags

Know the flags that are used around the track and what they mean. A description and definition of each flag can be found in our FAQ/Rules section under Track Flags.

Off-Track Instruction

Classroom sessions are mandatory and vital to maximizing your learning experience at each event. This is a great time to ask questions, get answers, and listen.
